Erin, Stefanie and Rachel started things off with a bang with the fastest swim times. Erin was the lead lady out of the water in 21 minutes, with Rachel at 22 and Stefanie back at 23! Out onto the bikes we went where Rosy had the best bike of the age group, and Hailey was right behind for the 2nd fastest bike split of the day! The run came last with Rosy leading the path followed by Erin. What a day it was, Rosy got 1st in the AG, followed by a best performance from Erin who took 2nd!! Rachel was 4th, Hailey came in next at 7th place and Stefanie broke into the top 10 with a 9th placing and a PR by 13 minutes!!! Way to go Stefanie! Rosy was also the 1st place overall woman and Erin was the 8th best woman! Fast gals abounded today!

Next up is our 30-34 gals Ariane and Angela, one of our newest members! Ariane was able to score the 2nd best time in her AG, kicking booty all the way home and Angela was able to complete her first full Olympic course with a great time. Ariane was the 7th fastest female overall!

Leishia was able to start the race and get all the way through the bike before her calves started to say no, no,no! Just like Amy winehouse right Leishia?! Leishia of course though was able to be fast like lightning in the water all the way through T2. Hope you feel better lady!

Vikki was out there today racing for the ladies 50-54 and broke into the top 10 with and 8th place finish and after the race, while she nearly fell over :) Vikki was so pumped to break 3 hours. And boy did she crush it! Way to go Vikki, it always feels great to set a PR.

Awesome job today ladies, a tasty treat is deserved by all!

thanks to Yi for the photos!

August Recap

Plenty of action has been happening with our Ladies in Pink in August.

Starting out with Lake Stevens 70.3 up North:

We had two fantastic little ladies racing Erin and Rachel both masters of the 25-29 age group.
Both ladies are terrific swimmers and showed that talent this weekend.

Erin was the 3rd swimmer out of the water in 27:50, I am sure she was chasing those gals down, she likes to be 1st out of the water! Our Ms Moody was able to pace 8min miles the entire time (must be those Kezar sessions with D paying off!) which took her to a 9th place age group finish in a time of 5:17:34! After some serious training, Monica battled the extreme heat and crummy air from local wildfires to pull together a phenomenal race. She was 15th out of the water in her age group, held strong on the bike, even on those tough climbs and was able to find her running legs as soon as her feet hit the ground. Monica finished 8th in her age group, way to go Monica!

Turn up the heat! Talk about beating the heat...well at least we tried. Starting off with Rachel, she dominated in the swim as is her MO with a blazing time of 28: Rachel had a massive improvement over last year's race and finished 14th in the AG in a time of 5:18 vs last year's 6:05...Rachel way to rock it!!

Next up we have Hailey, taking the age group bike by storm with the fastest split and a 4th place podium finish!Hailey had a race best time of 4:57 which was great even though her hubby asked after the race if she was "injured"! Hailey was also rocking the pink bikini in style, turning heads all over the course!

Lastly in the 25-29 AG is podium spot #1 Rosy! Rosy had a beautiful race, took the run down and had the best run split of the day for the AG. Excellent work Rosy, way to bounce back from a fall, hopefully this gave you some major confidence!

Now if you put these 3 together, they could be unbeatable...relay anyone?

Next up we had Meredith and Ariane racing for the 30-34 AG.
Ariane was able to bounce back from last year when a crash stopped her journey to the Vineman finish. This year there was a tree down, but thankfully only heeded her progress on the bike course. She still managed to fly through the bike and looked cheerful as always! Ariane finished 7th in the AG and 21st woman OA. Awesome job!

Meredith rocked it from front to back, with the awards announcer hinting that there is some money to be won if she turns pro She was the 1st in 30-34 and the first amateur lady with a smokin' time of 4:28:10! Awesome job Meredith, so great to see you out there!

In the 35-39 category we had Cara S, Danielle, and Laura K!
Danielle was able to come in 18th in the AG, and man can that gal bike! She had one of the fastest bikes in the AG with a 2:37 time! Awesome job Danielle :)

Cara took down Vineman in 6:08, having a steady race the entire time...although it looks as if she misplaced her shoes in T2 having a bit of a delay going out onto the run...hmmmm where are my shoes? Among 2000 pair, they all look the same!
This was Laura's 2nd half as well, tackling Kansas just a month ago...talk about a program! Laura's husband Steve finished ahead of me and when i saw him again he was going out to be team cheerleader and find his wife! He found her out there slogging through the 95+ heat rocking the course! Nice job Laura, you wear that pink well :)

Leishia had a fantastic swim exiting the water in 28 minutes and out onto the bike course. Nice job Leishia!

Kathleen just joined us this year placed 33rd overall. Nice job Kathleen, you will have to tell us how the race went for you, but it looked like a steady race from beginning to end so a big congrats!

Our Dorette rounds out the 40-44 category and was able to finish due to some serious mental training! DNF's are never good, and Dorette we are proud of your tenacity- tell those leg cramps to scram! Dorette came out of the water and to her surprise there were many bikes around...things are looking good! The run was where the cramping began...heat too much for hard working muscles, but she was able to turn in a 13th place finish and a great training day for St george!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://teampacificbicycle.blogspot.com/2009/07/turn-up-heat-vineman-703.html' title='Turn up the heat! What a race on Sunday in Austria. All of that German food must have agreed with her on race day as Anne managed a 7th place finish among the women 40-44.

Anne was like a fish in the water and swam the 2.4 in 1:07 for the sixth best swim in AG. Onto the bike where she averaged 31.61 Km/HR...go to European country to have a fantastic average on the bike! Next time someone askes her, she can say oh I averaged 31... :) Anne had two great transitions and hit the run. She snuck in under 4 hours with a run time of 3:59, which lead to another sneaky time of 10:59 overall.

Anne way to come in under that 11 hour mark, what an accomplishment. Looks like it was a very cold day out there and Lara blazed to the finish line in a time of 15:16 :) Very good work for her first IM!

Next up in the women 30-34 category we had Ariane and Meredith. Ariane was having a spectacular day with the 2nd best bike in her AG when she came into T2 wanting to warm up from the frosty temps. She went searching for warm broth to warm her up and got sucked into the med tent by the allure of warm salty goodness. Needless to say, once they saw our little popsicle and assessed her with mild hypothermia, she was not allowed to leave :( A disappointment for sure, but we are glad that she is A ok and prepping for Kona.

Meredith was charging from the beginning, with the 2nd best swim the best bike time in her AG and a smashing run of 3:36...this girl can put together a great race! What a day to do your first with wind, rough swim, cold and rain! Sydney was strong and steady the entire day, representing the Pink in style!

Next up was the Silicon Valley Olympic triathlon at Lake Almaden in San Jose. With a start time of 7 AM, it was a very early wake up call! There were four ladies in pink on Sunday toeing the line down south, Rachel, Erica, Amy and Hailey.

Amy is the youngest of the bunch and was 2nd in the 20-24 age group with a super fast swim of 20 minutes! Rachel was the quickest out of the water and was out in 19:17...Hailey saw this as a good sign when she entered T1 as Rachel was on her way out just behind the mermaid. Out onto the bikes they went, Rachel out in front for the first bit leading their age group! Hailey made up some time on the bike and was very excited when she entered into T2 and headed out onto the run to cheers of "yeah first woman!" She didn't let the ladies charging up behind her or the heat get to her though. The 6 mile course turned into a 7.35 mile run due to some "complications" with the race director, which made for a tough mental situation for all the racers. Hailey came through in 2:23 about 18 seconds in front of the 2nd place gal. Her very first "W"! Rachel was right behind and rounded off the 25-29 Podium in third place.

Erica was up next for the 30-34 AG and was 4th in her division with an overall time of 2:27, putting together a very solid three legs!

Cruising the Headlands

Kari and Erin took to the trails of Marin this weekend, Kari rocking the Dipsea in just over an hour, but no official results just yet. Miss Hailey found the altitude made it tough to breathe up there while working out-um scratch that while time trialing/redlining it? TOUGH! This gal is racing Kansas 70.3 this weekend as her first half. Laura, we are all behind you and this swim shows you're hot stuff!

In the 1 mile non-wetsuit swim, we had Miss Kelly D. Kelly was able to nab the 7th spot in the 18-24 division, she's working on that swim ladies and we had better watch out!

In the 2-mile wetsuit swim, Lara was rockin' the 25-29 getting her gills ready for CDA in just over a week! Kill 'em Lara!

In the 2 mile no wet suit division we had our resident mergals, Erin and Jessie. Erin swam the 2 miles in 49 minutes and Jessie was nipping at her heels, quite literally I think as she came out of the water just 7 seconds after Erin! Wowza gals, 2 miles in 49 minutes? That is smokin' fast! Erin was 11th gal in 25-29 and Jessie was 14th.

Our second race, Anchorman Triathlon was taken on by guys and dolls, but we'll only talk about the Pink ladies.

Dorette took 3rd in her AG and 7th OA of all the ladies that competed. This was great considering the course and its challenges of being new and word that the swim was open to interpretation for some. Even with the trouble in the water we had two other finishers, Daria and Hope. Hope was also in D2's AG and got 5th place and 11th OA, Hope nice work! Daria was movin' the 30-34 AG and got 2nd place! You ladies showed them what we do!D2 with her award, along with man in black - John who also took a podium spot!

More May Races!

Going back a couple weeks to catch up with the ladies in Pink, it's hard to keep track some times! We have had women racing literally every weekend from Hawaii to the Bay.

First up, we had Ariane and Monica at the Honu half in beautiful Hawaii. It was a magical day in the Hawaiian heat and you can see just how well our girls did, or rather how hard they stomped on the competition!!

Monica, miss sunshine herself was able to knock out a 10th place finish with the 8th best bike in her age group. Awesome job lady!

Ariane- had a breakthrough performance in Hawaii...tells of what's to come in October. This monster pulled out a 3rd place AG finish and 8th OA..yes including the pros that were there! Ariane had the same bike time (ok plus like 30 seconds- but who's counting) as Belinda Granger- you know the pro?!! She was 1 small little minute off the COURSE RECORD! Nice job Ariane!

Next up we had our girls representing at the Toughest race in Auburn.

Sarah B did the half and was able to get a 4th place AG finish! What a race Sarah!

The rest of our gals took on the olympic distance and smooshed the rest of the girls out there!

Stefanie took 4th in the 25-29 group, a stellar performance for what her third? triathlon ever! And as usual, mergirl was the first out of the water! Way to rock that swim Stefanie!

In the 30-34 category we had Erica and Liz B. Erica motored to a 2nd place finish in the AG and Liz was 6th! Erica was able to put a great swim/bike combo together to solidify her standings! Excellent work out there in the heat ladies!

Cara was up next and rocked a third place finish in her AG, lovin' the Pac Bikes Podiums! Excellent work ladies!
Sarah kicking it into 4th place!

The Ladies Rip it up at Wildflower 2009

The weekend originally called for 80% chance of rain. The showers were over by Saturday morning and those who forgot their sunscreen thinking it was going to rain ended up looking like they were still wearing a shirt after they took it off...bad move. The sun came out and we made our move, getting compliments all over the course for our speed and hot kits.

For the 25-29 age group we had a tremendous group of gals kicking booty from the swim to the run. Miss Erin had the fastest swim of the group in a rockin' 27 minutes and changed and finished 11th in the group, not too bad for a girl with a slow leak on the bike! Hailey takes the cake for the fast gal of the group on the bike with the 4th fastest bike and ended up 7th in the AG. Miss Rosy capped off the day with the fastest run split for the 25-29 women and was 3rd at the end of the day. We had three gals doing their first or second half Ironman and they took it out in true pink form, congrats to Susan who had a PR, Sarah and Kate who were in the top 3rd of the age group! Lara was out there and had a breakthrough swim and was able to take the 15th fastest run of the day for the ladies 25-29. Way to push it Lara!

Sarah and Dave Erin on the run Lara on the run Susan on the bike

Rosy at the finish line, mentally focused now!

Kate is officially hooked and looking to get a waitlist slot for Vineman '09.

Meredith on the bike, taking charge!

Next up we saw some serious hurt being laid down by the group of 30-34 ladies! Jill arrived at Wildflower so crammed in a car that I could barely see her! Hope was out there going long and strong feeling good all day. Monica was out there pushing hard as always even though her body was, in the words of Amy Weinhouse, saying "no,no,no!". Our fearless Monica took on the swim and bike before giving into the body's demands. Awesome job for just getting over a wicked cold. Sydney topped off the age group with a sprint down the finish chute with Lara and the 23rd best time in the AG and the 7th best run!

D2 looking strong Sidney blazes the run Hope and Monica staying warm

45-49 saw Lori take 3rd in her group getting a podium spot and having the 2nd best swim! Welcome back Anne, so good to see your smile out there!

Onto the Olympic at Wildflower! Saturday saw even clearer skies and warmer temperatures. We had 6 ladies out there and boy did they show 'em what we're made of! Leishia took the fastest swim of the day in 21 minutes! Just call her a mermaid :) Kelly was able to take 2nd in her group of 20-24 and grab a podium spot but was a bit disappointed with the day as the med tent and not the win awaited her at the finish. Kelly- nicely done, way to keep the focus. To her surprise, the 5am weather was a bit warmer than anticipated and proved to be a challenge throughout the day. The first challenge came in the swim however, as many racers discovered that their "slow" swim times were due to a 1.4 mile course being mis-measured, rather than the 1.2 mile course. Despite the tough humid heat and some brutal wind, Hailey came out of the bike with enough left in the tank to dig deep on the run and finish in 3rd place!
